Prepare for Flu Season

As summer winds down in the northern hemisphere and fall approaches, flu season is just around the corner. While many who get the flu experience mild symptoms, it can be much more serious for others. Children, pregnant women, the elderly and people with preexisting conditions are at higher risk for developing complications from the flu. Therefore, getting the flu shot is important not just for your health, but to help others as well. Learn more about the flu vaccine and how to fight the flu.

Words of Wellness
Community Online Academy

Community Online Academy (COA) is a platform that offers free online classes on topics such as wellness, learning and leadership for kids and adults. These are taught by the highest quality teachers, instructors, and speakers. COA is available to GeoBlue® members through the GeoBlue wellness portal. There are a variety of topics to choose from, with both live and on-demand options available.

To access the Community Online Academy:
  1. Sign in to the GeoBlue Member Hub
  2. Click on the "Wellness" tab from the top menu
  3. At the bottom of this page, click on the "Wellness Portal" link
  4. Click on the banner on the top of the Wellness Portal to access the Community Online Academy*
*In order to sign up for live classes in the Community Online Academy, you must log in through Perks at Work which also offers up to 25% off name brand, practical or luxury items. Simply log in or sign up using company name “Workplace Option US” and company code “EAP” (pre-recorded classes on the Video Hub do not require login).

Member Tools: Direct Pay

It is customary for most international providers to require a Guarantee of Payment (GOP) prior to providing non-emergency care. By requesting Direct Pay before getting care, GeoBlue can send a GOP to the provider to show payments will be made. If you have a GOP, you won't need to pay out of pocket and submit a claim for reimbursement. By doing this, you will only be responsible for the deductible or copay at the time of your visit. If Direct Pay is not arranged prior to the visit, the physician may require payment up front from you.

If you are going to see any provider, even one in our provider community, contact us at least 48 hours prior to your appointment to secure Direct Pay.
Accessing Direct Pay

  • Find a participating provider in the GeoBlue mobile app or on the Member Hub. View the detailed provider profiles to make your choice.
Schedule your appointment
  • Once you select a provider, contact the provider directly to make your appointment.
Request Direct Pay
  • After you make your appointment click "Tools and Services" then "Request Direct Settlement' on the Member Hub or click "Direct Settlement" in the mobile app to fill out the Direct Pay request form. For optimal service, you must request Direct Pay 48 hours prior to your appointment.
  • Any questions about Direct Pay, call the number on the back of your ID card.
Go to your appointment
  • The issued GOP will be sent to your provider and will be available for you in the mobile app and on the Member Hub.
